ORANGE PARK, Fla. – A golf and you. S. Membership has been open since 1990 in Orange Park and has unexpectedly closed a number of its services. Now, more than 600 citizens of the Orange Park Country Club who bought into the golfing network lifestyle are thinking about the future of their gated community. The News4Jax I-TEAM commenced receiving emails and phone calls last week from those who had been surprised to discover that the golf course, the range, and the tennis courts have all been closed.
Tom Raffo shouldn’t fear hitting everybody with his golf balls at the variety, or any of the 18 holes on the Orange Park Country Club, for that matter. He said the clubhouse shuttered its doorways with little caution closing week. He said golf is one of the reasons why he bought a residence in Orange Park Country Club. “It’s sad. It’s certainly sad,” Raffo stated. “We do not know what is going to take place.”
Locals stated that the sudden closure is sudden because the direction, the tennis courts, and the clubhouse were in the middle of the thriving neighborhood. But in keeping with John McCormack, president of the house owners ‘ association, former owner James Price had a hard time making ends meet and decided to walk away. “They changed into an alternate in possession April final year. We had a variety of rain. And golf is a competitive commercial enterprise, and there are a variety of options available,” McCormack said. “We had inklings that he wasn’t having a whole lot of success.”
According to property records, Price purchased the golf course and United States of America membership for $2 million in April 2018. Locals stated they witnessed a decline in the conditions of the path, which includes the green seen on the 5th hole, which is now overrun with weeds and dirt. Residents said they worry that with hotter temperatures on the way, all 400 acres will quickly be overgrown. “Hopefully, there are shoppers out there who will come out fast, earlier than it is damaged past repair,” McCormack stated. Homeowners are scared that their property values are going to plummet as a result. This isn’t always what Raffo said he paid for when he bought his house.
“It’s never the same if you have to get your car, load your clubs,” Raffo stated. Unfortunately, golfing guides in non-public communities throughout the United States remain shut at an alarming rate. Approximately two hundred golf publications closed last year, in step with the National Golf Foundation. They had been hard corporations to preserve due to the opposition, a loss of interest in golfing in well known and increasing fees to keep the guides.
