Kozhikode: Chaliyar River Paddle, the sixth edition of the once-a-year water sports occasion organized by Kerala Tourism in association with Jellyfish Water Sports, will start on Sept 20. The three-day event caters to water sports fanatics, nature lovers, vacationers, and children with kayaking, SUPing, canoeing, and other activities. The something says it’ll assist flip more children and tourists into evangelists of clean waters. “(It) targets saving our rivers from city pollution and selling recreational kayaking for all people,” Kaushiq Kodithodika, founder, Jellyfish Water Sports, said in a press launch.
“Recently, Kerala State has witnessed repetitive flooding, and most of the people aren’t very familiar with minimal safety precautions on the subject of water. So we aim to introduce more human beings to paddle in our rivers. Their connection to the rivers will help unfold consciousness about easy waters and clear up many issues.”
The occasion starts from Nilambur, situated on the foothills of the Western Ghats with proximity to Nilgiris. The ending factor is Beypore in Kozhikode district, where the river meets the Arabian Sea. The Chaliyar River Paddle has something for all and sundry, from beginners to non-swimmers and right up to water sports enthusiasts. Not just that, from 10-year-olds to 70, it’s open for all, they say.
For those at the water for the first time, kayak instructions may be supplied on the first day. Stand-up paddlers are also invited to join. Apart from the exciting journey on the water, the campsite can be a great area to unwind and bond with fellow paddlers. Apart from tents, bonfires, and group activities, participants get a peek into the lifestyle through actual Kerala cuisine and local tribal tunes.
